The Scene – This is not romance heaven, or maybe it is. You're not going to find Richard Gere in here mooning over anyone. It looks like your typical grubby bar, complete with sports memorabilia on the walls and pool table in back. The building itself is a historic structure that for decades housed Demmi's Market, a grocery store. Thus, the name. – – The Food – The pizza here really is addictive--light, delicate tomato sauce and fresh Italian flavorings, along with high-quality cheese and excellent, crisp crust gives The Market a leg up on its many Ybor City…
Editor's Tips
- Window Seat:
- Snag a good seat at the table in the front window.
- Park Your Ride:
- It's tough to get a close spot on the weekends, unless you're willing to shell out some cash. Park in the garage near Centro Ybor and walk.
By far the best pizza around!
by abbeystrese at Citysearch
I've been going to Market on 7th (Demmi's) for years. They have the best pizza I've ever had. And I've tried a lot of places. Very relaxed atmosphere with great prices on drinks and the pizza. If you like thin crust you'll never eat pizza anywhere else.
- Pros: inexpensive, casual atmosphere
- Cons: cash only
Crave this pizza more than NY pizza
by smf777 at Citysearch
Ive been away from the TB area for 5 years and I must say I still crave the taste of Demmis pizza if I'm hungry for pizza. The only pizza somewhat comparable has been in NY. I think it's the sauce that makes it special. It is tangy tomato with a hint of sweetness and herbs. The perfect blend of cheeses on top and the right amount of fresh mushrooms (what I get). Perfect crust - thin, crisp, but chewy on the inside. Everything in just the right proportions. If you're in Ybor, definitely a MUST TRY! You'll get hooked too.
- Pros: Full bar, Casual, Inexpensive
- Cons: Only serve pizza, Very busy at night

Its not just the pizza
by internetcooks at Citysearch
Firstly the pizza is first rate, simple and true and isn't going to set you back like some of the other ybor spots. The atmosphere is light with good beer..if you are lucky enough to run into the owner Gino Iavarone he'll tell you the history of the place which goes back many generations in his family. Great for a power lunch or a late night snack. The property (including the neighboring Carmine's) is beautiful classic Ybor city which has stood since Ybor's cigar heyday.
- Pros: great space, good slice, big airy room
- Cons: limited num. tables, pizza only, cash only
Tampa's First Take-out
by famigliausa at Citysearch
They've been twirling pies in this family for 3 generations. Pizza is simply prepared and available by the slice. Great and not overwhelming pairing with a beer. Checkout the jukebox in the back, it rocks!
- Pros: celebrity watching, great atmosphere, value
- Cons: in ybor only, no delivery, limited seating
