In response to miltontime. I totally agree with you on everything.Thats why I stopped going there and found the original owner who started Panchos.Hes out in Zephyrhills at Los Chicos. He opened a new place with all the same people and food .Also he has way better prices, the way they should be. This new guy at panchos came in and jacked up the prices. I dont know the whole story about what happened but just read the rest of the reviews on here and some of them explains it.

No longer the prize of San Antonio. Be warned. This is not the same Panchos Villa it used to be. Used to wait for an hour for my spot, now I'll start hunting for a better option. I've lived in San Ann my entire life, and it's sad to see a true landmark go downhill so quickly. My relatives in Tampa used to drive down every month just so we could eat here.

To start, parking spaces taken up by the staff. My water "glass" was dirty. The carnitas tasted old. Prices are WAY too high now. Our waitress was great, but the manager/owner was VERY rude to someone in the back of the restaurant. Everyone in the dining room just stared at each other in disbelief. I honestly think there may be something wrong with him.

Any suggestions on newer places in Z or SA, please post.

Thanks!

A response to pancho777( He will never be the original owner). I know for sure foodcritic got it on the mark about what happened to panchos villa and for those who already came by los chicos you will find the original owner that had his resturaunt taken away from him because of some kid and his nut head uncle.Of course he didnt change the food why would you take a menu away that was created from the original guy who had that place jumping for thirteen years. Also how is that place better? Just because they changed the bathrooms around, Big deal...It never stoped anyone before from coming And no cr@p they are not affiliated with any other resturaunt. The one in zephyrhills had to change the name to los chicos because he didnt want to be affiliated with a place that has such bad rep now.Everyone will see the TRUTH. Just wait!!!!

The new owner came in and now the place went downhill. There has been so much going on with this this restaurant. The new guy came in and took it from the previous owner that had the place for thirteen years. He lost it in a divorce. The wife and new owner even shut the one in zephyrhills down because they wanted all the buisness to go out to san antonio. The previous owner opened his own restaurant up one block away from the old one he had in zephyrhills. He also change his name cause he did not want anything to do with what use to be his family that turned on him. His new place is called Los Chicos its the same food same people just a different name and no bad connections anymore. So if you want the original guy who began panchos villa come by the new zephyrhills restaurant 38300 11th Ave Zephyrhills, FL 33542

(813) 782-4894 or (813)788-8848.

I can guarantee you would enjoy this restaurant alot better than the san ann one.The prices are more reasonalble and you get more for what you pay for. They also have a outdoor patio area where you can eat.As a long time customer of panchos villa its worth the drive to zephyrhills to Los Chicos.

The best Mexican Food anywhere! Served by people who know what they are doing! Family owned!. This family owned restaurant is simply the best restaurant I have ever stumbled upon. Great home style atmosphere, always busy with locals (and if that ain't the tip off right there!) and always friendly! Food is A1 the best! I'm not kidding! No MSG, Margarita's are tops! Price is even better! The chips are crunchy but not hard, and the salsa is simply to die for! Love it-love it- love it! Worth the drive although you might need your GPS to help or a google map.

A little Peace of Mexico. If you want to feel like you are in Mexico, then go visit this great little Mexican restaurant. The environment is nice and clean. It has been recently remolded from the inside and is under new management. The walls are painted with landscapes of Mexico and have nice new concrete floors.

The Food is a variation of ethnic Mexican food and some Tex-Mex variations (for people who are not into the ethnic Mexican food). The food is great and certainly nothing compared to the Mexican restaurants in the Tampa Bay Area. My favorite dishes are the Chili Verde Con Nopales, Chorizo and Huevos and last but not least are the Carnitas. To top it all of for desert the flan is amazing, and to wash it all down get a class of home brewed sweet tea.

But besides the food being great, the customer service is excellent. The waitress and the management treat you with respect and consider you part of the family when you are there.

The Best Mexcian food EVER!. they have the absolute best Mexican food!!! Yes it is a "hole in the wall" place, but the food is excellent. The bathrooms do need some help so just be sure to use your own before going!! It's a quaint little city and I just love it!!

Mexican, American and Italian. Horrible atmosphere, ordered 3 distinctly different items, chili relleno, chicken burrito, and beef tamale. All three items were served smothered in chili sauce, and totally unidentifyable from each other. Everything served tasted the same, the refried beans were authentic, but the rice was straight from the local chinese eatery, little flavor with peas and carrots. Childs meal served on a plate so hot it burned the child's hand. Drinks are $2.00 for a single can of soda, with no "refills." The chimichanga tasted like it was smothered in peanut butter, still have not figured out how they managed that particular flavor combination. A lot of locals, with a lot of waiting for very poor quality food and even worse value. Big thumbs down! Don't even get me started on the very scary bathrooms...

Excelente. This is one of those restaurants you hate to tell anyone about, so you can keep it all to yourself. The food is authentic Mexican and consistently wonderful. It is a little out of the way if you live in Tampa, but the ride is worth it. Be sure to check out the fried ice cream.
