This is my first review, and will most likely be my only. My love for Yokohama's pushed me to express it, and thusly I've ended up here.
I've been going to Yokohama's for years. The employees there are so sweet and personable. When I started dating a boyfriend whose favorite place to eat dinner was Taco Bell (strictly for the pricing), my beloved expeditions to Yokohama's dwindled to special occasions. However, a few weeks ago we headed over to eat dinner to celebrate our six-month anniversary, after not having been there in a few months at least, one of the employees, who was not waiting on our table, stopped by to say, "Hi!" and that my hair looks good short. I couldn't believe that she still remembered me and felt strongly enough to stop by and chat! Amazing, amazing service.
But it doesn't end there. The food is amazing. I'm vegetarian, so good food is something I don't often get to enjoy at restaurants. Yokohama's vegetarian selections, though not expansive or numerable, are absolutely delicious and leave me feeling full, though not weighted down. I order the agedashi tofu and request an off-the-menu vegetable roll that never, ever fails to let me down. Eating dinner, I close my eyes and smile as I chew, worrying not how silly I may look.
I finish off with the delicious and incomparable green tea ice cream and pay my bill at the counter on which an old music box sits, playing traditional japanese music.
This place is a must-eat for anyone in the Tampa area who likes japanese food or culture.
Might I add that seating is ALWAYS immediate, and that there is plenty of space between tables. It's amazingly almost never crowded. In my years, I've only been one time where I would have described it as crowded, and there were still open tables. A pity, really...

by ddillon1231
I compare food from Tampa to home in NY and never find any comparisons. But Yokohama's sushi, authenticity in decor and service is overall why I would recommend dining here to anyone who loves sushi or trying it for the first time. The staff is super-friendly and I love it there!!
- Pros: ambience, sushi, inviting, friendly
- Cons: none
