The Scene
This is the place to stay if you're seeking the city's most up-market accommodations. The lobby, hallways, ballroom and guest rooms all reflect the glory of years past. Some of the area's most prestigious grand balls are held here each year. It's a popular venue for fundraisers and a pleasant spot for an after-show dessert or nightcap.
The Details
Hallways are lined with original doors from the 1920s, recovered and restored. With a long wooden bar in the middle, the primary on-site restaurant, Marchand's, is one of the city's finest. The front porch has a handful of rocking chairs for gazing out on diving pelicans and bright-sailed craft. Guest rooms fit the resort's overall grand atmosphere and come with coffee service, morning newspaper, cable TV and a fully stocked refreshment center. Although billed as a golfing resort, the hotel's course is off-site, a short shuttle away on Snell Isle.

I am absolutely disgusted! I parked at the Vinoy Hotel in St Petersburg FLA on 3/24/07 with the valet to meet a friend staying there. I paid the valet extra and was told he would keep my car up front in a special section. When I returned to get my car I noticed that they damaged my right rear wheel & tire! You could see the curb damage & the fresh mark from the sidewalk from when they drove it in. The manager of the hotel parking inspected it, took notes & told me someone would contact me. Needless to say, they brushed me off, noone contacted me until I left a voicemail & sent an email to the president of the company. The company never planned to take responsibility & eventhough I had photos of the damage, a witness that my vehicle wasnt damaged prior to parking they brushed me off and said it was old damage. Bottom line is they had a careless driver mistreat my car, damaged it & thought I wouldnt notice it. I offered to bring the car back & work it out and they refused. Do not ever use the valet service at the Vinoy, they may damage your 100 thousand dollar car and tell you its your fault!!!!

The entire staff was amazing, opening doors, greeting very polite. Our stay was perfect. The golf course was in perfect condition. My wife got a great massage while I worked out at their great facility and enjoyed the spa. Room service was perfect. We highly recommend this hotel. Cleanliness and furnishings were superb.
Pros: staff, views, facilities
Cons: $10 internet fee
