Tampa's Answer To Healthy Fast Food. While the Tampa Bay area is famous for producing restaurants like Hooters and Outback, it is also the home of Evos. There is no deep-frying here. Evos airbakes its food, even the AirFries. There are salads and fruit shakes. The important thing is the food is very good and the service fast. Evos is in the Tampa Bay area and in Atlanta.

Horrible customer service. Regardless of their food, Evo's is famous for horrendous customer relations. Just one example. The other night I went over there for dinner, and they were closed early. I left my car where it was and started to walk next door for dinner. They told me I had to move my car. When I declined, they threatened to have it towed. When I declined again, they threatened to call the police on me for trespassing! Obviously, there's no trespassing in a parking lot, but what is the matter with these people? I can't see throwing money at a business that treats customers like that.

Just Okay. It's okay if your in a pinch. It beats artery clogging fast food but it's nothing to write home about. The air fries are interesting but not exactly tasty unless you glob lots of their flavored ketchup on them. The ketchup is good. It's a clean restaurant and the staff is friendly.

This joint demonstrates fast food can be fast, cheap, healthful and delicious.. The Scene
Evos' (pronounced AY-VOS) location along South Howard Avenue puts it comfortably along "restaurant row." Inside, it features colorful, modern decor of screaming blues, reds and greens, with simple modern furniture. Patrons are mostly young, casually-dressed and hip.

The Food
There's an unusually nice selection of low-calorie, low-fat fast food. The Pacific salmon patty served on a soft bun and laced with cholesterol-free dill sauce, lettuce and tomato is a winner; it also comes with three choices of fruit smoothie. Don't miss the excellent "airfries," which are baked, not fried. Even the chocolate chip cookies taste just fine.

It's alright. If you do want something healthier than going to El Cap or Goody Goody that doesn't quite taste like cardboard then it is good. Their soyburger is the best I've had but their regular burger is a little dry and doesn't really compare to the other top places but you have to remember it is health food.

Trick or Treat?. I heard that Evos offered a healthier alternative to fast food. Was this a trick or a could it really be a treat? I was more than pleasantly suprised when I decided to give it a try. I love the occasional guilty pleasure of eating burgers and fries - and this is the spot I will continue to go to when the urge strikes again. Lower fat, sodium, and calories than the regular fast food joints - but equally as tasty.
