It's All Relative.
I think Edgar went to the KiKiKi one time and one time only. If you don't hit the right time, it can be dead, and you can miss the real fun. But one thing can be said - the staff AND the patrons, 99% of the time, are the friendliest lot you could imagine. I'm sure Edgar sat in a corner by himself, avoided everyone, and waited for a young Johnny Depp to walk in dressed in nothing but shorts, and walk right up to him and offer to go home with him.
Kikiki is FUN, and you can almost NEVER go without having at least some friendly conversation and laughs. I've met PLENTY of HOT younger men there, including COLLEGE FRAT BOYS and military men from Macdill.
You can't beat the drink prices, and they aren't watered down like in the "posh" gay bars. All in all a fun, easy going DIVE. Yes, it is definitely a dive. THAT'S WHY IT'S SO MUCH FUN!
from a customer not the management.
Roaches everywhere. On your glass. Don't use the toilet. What kind of self loathing person would enjoy this dump? The only other people there when I was were a couple of old drunken bums choking on cigarettes. I have not seen any of the "college guys" written about in another review and I think most people who have walked in to this filthy horrible dive would laugh at that. Unless it was a college course given in prison. The sickly looking "trade" types want your money here and I have not seen anything I would want to pay or even go with for free. The conversation consisted of jails, drugs, etc. in the most low down way of speaking anyone could imagine.
The plain TRUTH is that when you are here, you have hit rock bottom...you can go no lower. Now I wouldn't mind going so low with someone hot in my arms but LETS FACE IT, it isn't happening in this roach infested hell hole.
Had a Ball !!!!. Read the online reviews and didn't expect much when I visited the 1st time. However I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The bartender Steve was very friendly and a great conversationalist. Also left me surf awhile on his laptop. Faron, the manager (?) was equally friendly and made me feel very welcome. He also pointed out some hot spots I should see in Tampa, which I actually left and checked out. I returned later in the afternoon and met a few of the customers. There was some nice eye candy that didn't come onto you unless they were invited., I did strike up a conversation with one of the cutest (shirt off) who was very bright and a great conversationalist., I'm a snow bird so I'll be heading north very soon. But.....be certain that when I return to Tampa I'll be back again. Thank you for being so friendly and helpful. Mike from King's Point.
nice people. I agree. the staff here are extremely nice. and the young boyz are fun to watch playing pool. i don't go here to find a young guy to take home but i will admit i've bought the occasionel one a beer! i just go here to hang out and talk to people arounbd the bar, it is a fun place...not new and shiny but fun just the same....
Fun, Friendly Hole in the Wall.
THREE UPDATES! #1 - KiKiKi now offers a full service liquor bar again and often has a two-for-one drink special until 8 p.m.! #2 - They now accept credit and debit cards, plus there is an ATM on site. #3 - They have a sexy go go boy on Saturday nights and are actively looking for more dancers to work on both Friday and Saturday night!
Okay, this is not a posh night club with outrageous drink prices and bartenders who play tricks with the drink prices like a gay bar I won't name in Ybor city. This is a small, older, neighborhood kind of bar where you are going to want to be friendly to the people around you if you really expect to have the best time. 99% of the patrons are regulars, and almost all are just as friendly as can be. Don't be afriad to join in a conversation or strike one up! The bartenders are extremely friendly and welcoming, especially Franklin and Anthony, and Mickey is really nice, too!
Every time I go to this bar I have a great time. You just need to lighten up and go with the flow at a place like this! Yes, that cute young guy is probably in the bar looking for an opportunity, so if that is what you came for, buy him a drink and at the very least, you'll make a new friend. But lots of people just come here to see a familiar friendly face and have a few laughs passing the time with good conversation. All are welcome here, and I have even seen straight couples fit in very nicely.
To the guy who said there are police raids here, maybe that was true years ago, but I have been there enough times over a long enough period of time to say that this simply isn't true at all, if it ever was.
If you are a young guy or a USF/HCC/UT student, don't be afraid to check the place out - nobody there is an axe murderer and you will feel comfortable if you just relax. If you want to leave with a new friend, you can, if you want to just relax and drink and have a good time with your pants on, you can do that, too. Lots of great pool matches go down on the pool table and they have an amazing juke box. If you're cute, and someone sends you a drink, accept it and say thanks. It doesn't mean you have to leave with him! But it is a nice ice-breaker. True, many of the regulars here are looking to make a friend and maybe go have some fun, but nothing is written in stone!
I love this friendly, fun little dive bar.
Hot guys, great times. I've been going here on and off for quite a few years. Yes, it is a bit of a dive, but come on, some of the best bars are! Lately, it seems like this is the more and more the place where the younger guys like to hang out, play pool, and socialize with older admirers. Just be nice, be yourself, and be friendly, and you'll fit in just fine here. Cheap beer and hot shirtless college guys playing pool and accepting drinks from gents! What more could you ask for????
Great little place OLD but fun.
This is a fun place to go, They have cleaned it up ( still working on it ) with a new owner and a few bartender and some cute and hot guys there dancing at night.
Jason is a great bartender he takes care of you and makes you feel like you areat home. He will treat you woth respect. So if you are looking for a place to chill where ever one knows each other come on out and hang out with us....
Unique place, lots of fun. I've been here many times and rarely had a bad time. The nighttime bartender Micky is very sweet and watches out for everyone in the bar, both the younger guys and the older guys who admire them. This is the only place to go in Tampa if you want to meet a nice working man who is willing to share a laugh or two or more. Great place for younger guys to go if you are looking for the company of nice older guys who are willing to pay you lots of attention and more. True, the atmosphere is a little downtrodden, but if you've been to this kind of bar in any other city, such as Johnny's in Fort Lauderdale or the once-famous Stella's in Manhattan, you'll know this is pretty much the norm for a hustler bar! Have fun and treat the boys well. Most are honest and fun company. Watch out for the occassional strung out crackhead. They usually don't stick around long.
disgusting dive. this bar is not in any way shape or form a nice place to visit. It is a dirty dingy little bar room with extremely rude and uncaring bartenders. the daytime bartender, steve, treats this place like it is a private club and he chooses right from the get-go whether or not he likes you or not. If you are a smooth good looking underage chicken with a big package, then he will love you, but if youre not, then beware he will treat you like dirt, making you feel extremely uncomfortable in this place. This bar is a place where illegal substances and male hustlers are allowed to flow like water. It is a roughneck joint. If you enjoy male hustlers badgering you for money for drinks and illegal substances and you enjoy constant police raids, then this is the place for you. If you have at least one drop of class in your personality keep away by all means. If you complain to a bartender that one of the hustlers is bothering you, the bartender will tell YOU to leave and NOT the hustler. Go figure. If you are a criminal, hustler, junkie or extreme lowlife, then you will fit right in with the clientel.. If you are not, then my reccomendation is to stay clear of this joint.
Despite its unusual name, this is your average bar, complete with beer and a pool table..
American for Beer
KiKi's must be given credit for being a real bar. They don't serve any liquor (due, according to the bartender, to some interesting occurrences which will not be detailed), only beer.
When you walk in, the wood-paneled walls and juke box give any gay man the sensation that he just may not be gay at all. That is, until you hear what's coming out of the juke box--usually a medley of any top "diva" tracks. The security monitor at the center of the bar allows for easy viewing of your car in the parking lot.
Party Like It's 1949
If you're looking for a night out on the town, this is not your place. People are here to drink, play pool, and/or drown their sorrows. Some of the patrons are affectionately referred to as "crack heads" and "hustlers." So if you're looking for a date, be sure to bring your credit card and some negotiating skills.
