With Vinoy Park around the corner, Straub Park is an easy draw for big events or quiet retreats. – The Scenery
Along with nearby Vinoy Park, Pioneer Park and Demens Landing, Straub Park takes up a prime spot on St. Petersburg's shoreline. The area also includes the four-star Renaissance Vinoy Resort, the Museum of Fine Arts, the St. Petersburg Museum of History and The Pier. The Beach Drive shopping district, containing attractive boutiques, shops and eating establishments, is also popular.
William L. Straub Park is named in honor of the St. Petersburg Times editor who saved these 30 blocks and created a Riviera-style waterfront.
Straub Park plays host to all sorts of activities. The St. Anthony's Triathlon annually draws thousands of competitors and spectators to the park as does the Taste of Pinellas and offshore power boat races. Other big draws are boat shows, concerts and arts and crafts shows, including the huge Mainsail Arts Festival.
