Ten years ago, a hotel in Ybor was unthinkable. But the Hilton made Tampa think again..
The Scene The pretty new Hilton sits amid the old cigar factories, esconced among lush blooming plants and flanked with a glittering pool. The restaurant is located near the lobby, facing the pool on the west side.

The Food
It serves breakfast and lunch only, a simple menu of standards, but pretty well done. We liked the salad bar at lunch--big kettles of tossed or Caesar salad, homemade soup, relishes and crackers. (Note to management: You need low-fat dressings. We Weight Watchers eat salad because it's low in calories.) Great potato salad, big chewy chunks with the skin left on. We were only disappointed with one dish: We suspected the hot beef sandwich was sauced with canned gravy. But it was a such a bright, pleasant setting and such a gorgeous hotel, we vowed we'd be back.
